National Angels at My Door Day

National Angels at My Door Day is celebrated each year on August 27th, the first year being 2015.  The day has been recorded in the International Date Registry.

This day was founded by author Cindy Adkins of Louisiana.  The purpose of the day is commemorate loved ones who have passed on and to reflect on what they mean to us.  For those who are going through the grief process, it is a day to allow healing to take place.  "Having had this blog, as well as my Facebook page, Angels at My Door, it became increasingly clear to me that there is a great need for a day of reflection, as well as a 'celebration of life' honoring those who have passed on," said Adkins.

A single white rose is the symbol of the day as white roses represent everlasting love--love that endures beyond the grave.

In commemoration of this day, participants are asked to light a candle for their deceased loved one at home and to post a picture of them on whichever social media sites they participate in, i.e. Facebook, Instagram, etc.  It is not a federally recognized holiday.
